In May 2024, the European Council adopted a directive aiming at fighting gender violence, the first of its kind. This directive is a positive milestone regarding women's rights and show real change. The article will however addresse its shortcomings and discuss the power structures contributing to gender-violence.

Climate terrorism is a term increasingly used by the media to describe the non-violent protests of climate activists around the world. Is it appropriate? I argue that no, it’s neither accurate nor appropriate. Using this kind of discourse is harmful, as it can be used to justify violence against activists and it shifts the focus away from the real urgency – the climate crisis. Whether one agrees or disagrees with non-violent civil disobedience, criminalising climate activism and framing activists as terrorists is not the answer.
The last week of June is an exciting time for the Euroculture people. Why? Because it is when the Euroculture Intensive Programme, the IP, is hosted by one of the Euroculture Partner Universities. The war in Ukraine has had a profound impact on the global stage. Virtually every region and country has experienced some form of change related to this conflict, whether it be economic effects, a reassessment of foreign and domestic policies, or the acceptance of millions of refugees and displaced persons. Central Asian countries have also felt the repercussions of the war on the region, an influence that perhaps only residents of post-Soviet states can fully comprehend. Amidst this geopolitical turmoil, I have witnessed a growing sense of patriotism and a renewed appreciation for Kazakhstan's unique identity. Kazakhs are increasingly asserting their independence from Russia and embracing their own cultural heritage. This resurgence of national pride is reflected in the growing popularity of traditional Kazakh music, dance, and attire.
In a global context overwhelmed by the challenges posed by ongoing crises, the Forum emphasized the pillar role of democracy as a prerequisite for lasting peace. However, in the course of the various Labs and discussions that occurred during the 3-day forum, many highlighted the threats to democracy can be anywhere and everywhere. The youth, are not only the future but the main actors of this world, they can fight for social justice, climate crisis, economic and gender inequalities among other issues of our times.
The 2020 EU Taxonomy is reshaping sustainable finance with a clear focus on climate, water, circular economy, and pollution prevention. More than a regulatory measure, it guides businesses toward transparency and investors to eco-friendly investments. Challenges include balancing ambition and feasibility and addressing small business concerns.
